Joyful Success

  Joy Lanham is a true Brooke Training success story.  

Joy took our Freight Broker Training class in 2019 and hit the ground running.  She earned more than she could have imagined her first year as a broker.  Her background prepared her for this home run.

 

She services a “very niche” customer base, she moves sand…lots and lots of sand.  For years, Joy worked in oilfield services, in fracking and in investor relations in eight locations.  She learned how to juggle a lot of balls without a mishap.

 

After her time in the oil field industry she started several businesses from ladies apparel to virtual assistance for entrepreneurs.  Joy has a ‘can do’ spirit that has served her well.

 

Now her passion is freight brokering.  Her brokerage is Last Mile Logistics.  When an oil well is drilled, frac sand is pumped in the last mile of the drilling hole to help produce oil. Last Mile’s main client stores sand and delivers the sand needed to the drilling locations.  The client has their own fleet of trucks but often need more truckloads of sand for a project.  That is where Joy comes in.  She and her team of brokers starts “dialing for dollars”… calling all her trusted carriers.  She fulfills her client’s carrier needs and everyone benefits.  She listens to her carriers and pays them on time.

 

Joy has developed a great relationship with carrier owners and their dispatch personnel. The mutually beneficial, trusting relationship she builds are the key to her success.  She first and foremost respects the drivers.  They risk their lives every day on the nation’s highways.  Big Rigs operators are professional drivers.  They pay intense attention to the road and the cars around them.  Drivers of cars are often distracted, so the big wheels watch out for them.  

 

Joy has plans to expand into water hauling, chemical hauling, and hauling materials like pipe and construction products.

Easter Peace

How do we celebrate this Holy Week when bombs are going off around the world?  

We have to change our focus.

I know I have to take my eyes off all the antics of this world and adjust my focus towards Heaven to find calm in the storm. In this world we will have trouble but take heart Jesus overcame the world.  If you are a Christ follower, we know earth is not our home, Heaven is our home.  Jesus told his disciples, I go to prepare a place for you.  Our time on earth is just a bleep, eternity is forever. 

Jesus came to earth to bring us lasting peace.  Jesus said:  "Peace I leave with  you, my peace I give you.  I do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."  John 14:27. 

So take time to ask God for that peace.  He has a plan for us all for hope and a future.  The Bible is full of promises that are Truth.  

As you spend time in church, at an egg hunt, enjoying your family look upward and see the majesty of God's creation.  Thank Him.  If you don't have a relationship with God through Jesus.  I'd love to tell you about what I know.

Independence

 Our Fourth of July celebrations are just around the corner.  I know, I take the freedoms we have in America for granted.  Instead of being incredibly grateful, I can think I'm owed those freedoms.  We are so blessed to live in the land of the free, home of the brave.  

Anytime I see an America flag I am proud of my country.  Of course all of our forefathers didn't do everything right but neither do I.  I pray for forgiveness of my sins and the sins of my forefathers.  

I purpose to celebrate with a heart of gratitude for those who fought and died protecting our freedoms.  I am thankful for those in our military who continue to fight for peace across our world.  There is alot of turmoil currently.  There has always been wars and rumors of wars.

Let us vow to try to keep the peace in our little piece of the world everyday in our everyday lives.

Holy Week

Holy means "set apart".  This is a special week set apart for remembrance, reflection and celebration.  

• Remember Jesus came to earth to show us a perfect life.  

• Reflect that although He was perfect, he was crucified. 

• Celebrate that He conquered death showing us the way to live eternally with Him.  

Easter is Sunday. I'm taking time every day this week to reflect on the last week of Jesus' life on earth.  He lived a mere 33 years yet he has impacted all of History.  Actually I believe history is His Story.  God created a beautiful earth for His best creation:  mankind.  But we failed Him.  Adam and Eve chose to be rebellious to God's simple rule (don't eat of one tree, just one).  

Every one of us makes that choice as well.  Do we want a trusting relationship with our Creator or do we want our own way?

One rebellious choice separates us from our Holy God.  One excellent choice restores that relationship.  Choose to repent, believe in Jesus sacrifice and commit to living in gratitude to Him.  Then you will enjoy eternity with God.

I've heard it said this way:  Do we live for the dot (our time on earth) or for the line (eternity).  I pray I live for the line this week.

That's what I believe.

So very Grateful

 Happy Thanksgiving to all in my life.  I'm first so thankful to God for giving me a life, energy and purpose for my every day.  I have been immensely blessed with a family to love and who loves me.  I have a beautiful wife, 3 stunning daughters, 3 sons in law and 6 amazing grandchildren as well as a menagerie of extended family.  I also have a new dog, Jax.  

I am so very thankful for all the students who choose Brooke Transportation Training Solutions to enhance their profession.   I have an amazing support team who teach, recruit and process our students.  I enjoy being prodded by my mentors. We all encourage each other and our students to reach their full potential. I couldn't have ask for a better way to make a living and get to know so many inspiring individuals.

Skeptical ??

 I get all sorts of questions all day.  Recently a lady text me and asked "what are you REALLY selling and what can I expect to get???

Well, thanks for asking.  

Brooke Training is a legit deal...but it is not easy. You can expect to get a viable business with the potential to make a lot of money, so long as you work the process.  You own the business.  We promise to support you in many ways.

This Man's Best Friend

Dasher, our amazing Austrian Shepherd has gone to greener pastures in the clouds.  I miss him.

He was a dog created just for me.  He absolutely loved getting up with me at 3 or 4 a.m. for a nice long walk through nature... then watching the brilliant sunrise.   He'd spend the day chasing birds, deer, or anything else that graced our yard.  Then at dusk he'd watch the sunset from his perch on his chase lounge.  We live on a picturesque lake.  We all love the serenity of this environment.  The place seems very empty without him.  

I sell online courses for a living (when I'm not outside).  Most of the internet is "unsocial" media in my opinion except for the Aussie doing things group.   I feel I found my people.  They grieved with me when Dasher left us.  He fought the valiant fight with bone cancer.  He lived to love and protect us so he didn't want to give up.  My girls and my wife love Aussies.  We had 5 just a few years ago.  All our dogs had their human.  Dogs demonstrate unconditional love no matter how tired, hungry or hurt they may be.

It's Sunday morning and I tried to go work in the yard.  I just kept looking for Dasher.  I miss him.  I will always miss him.

I think Dasher was here at the end to help people deal with grief. God used my grief to help other people.  I learned to be more empathetic and grateful.

Dealing with the end of life with anyone or an animal is hard.  It's the price we pay for love.  I'll gladly pay that price.  Dasher made a positive impact on thousands of people.  Way to finish strong Dash!

Let Freedom Ring

 Happy Birthday America.  The home of the brave.  The land of freedom.  We proudly fly our flag and look to lady Liberty as we remember the blood and sacrifices that others gave for us.  

I am proud to be an American and celebrate all that the United States represents.  I have found great success as a father, husband and business owner because I live in a land that allows me the freedom to do that.  As you enjoy this beautiful day think about your freedoms.  Don't pass up any opportunity to be grateful for all you have and for the Creator that gives us the ultimate freedom.

Resurrection Day is Coming

This week is called Holy Week on the Christian calendar.  Holy means "set apart" for a divine purpose.  This is the week Christ followers take time to remember the incredible sacrifice Jesus made for all of mankind, believers and non believers alike.  The week starts with Palm Sunday where all of Jerusalem celebrated Jesus coming to town by lining his path with their coats and palm branches.  By "Spy" Wednesday the tide had turned, Jesus was betrayed by one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot.  On Thursday he went to pray in the garden.  He was then arrested and tried. He was innocent but none the less sentenced to die.  On Friday he was nailed to a cross between 2 criminals.      The followers of Jesus were heart broken.  

 

But everyone was surprised on Sunday when Jesus rose from the dead.   He appeared many times over the next 40 days to encourage his followers and show the world that he conquered death.  Within that time the disciples changed from feeling defeated to feeling victorious.  They then began telling anyone who would listen about what they had seen and experienced.  Jesus transformed their lives and he is still transforming lives today.  

 

That is what I believe.  Happy Easter everyone.

Happy Fourth of July

Grill up some hotdogs, make a dip with chips and a red white and blue dessert, it's time to celebrate the fourth of July, our Independence Day.  It is the birthday of our great nation, a cause for revelry.

When the initial battles in the Revolutionary War broke out in April 1775, independence from Great Britain was a radical idea.  By the middle of the following year, however, many more colonists had come to favor independence. 

On June 7, when the Continental Congress met at the Pennsylvania State House (later Independence Hall) in Philadelphia, the Virginia delegate Richard Henry Lee introduced a motion calling for the colonies’ independence. 

Amid heated debate, Congress postponed the vote on Lee’s resolution, but appointed a five-man committee—including Thomas Jefferson of Virginia, John Adams of Massachusetts, Roger Sherman of Connecticut, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania and Robert R. On July 2nd, the Continental Congress voted in favor of Lee’s resolution for independence in a near-unanimous vote. On that day, John Adams wrote to his wife Abigail that July 2 “will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival” and that the celebration should include “Pomp and Parade…Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other.” 

On July 4th, the Continental Congress formally adopted the Declaration of Independence, which had been written largely by Jefferson. Though the vote for actual independence took place on July 2nd, from then on the 4th became the day that was celebrated as the birth of American independence.

After the Revolutionary War, Americans continued to commemorate Independence Day every year, in celebrations that allowed the new nation’s emerging political leaders to address citizens and create a feeling of unity. 

Let's remember all those who gave their lives to the preservation of America, the greatest nation.  We started as a "grand experiment in democracy" according to Alexander Hamilton.  My wish for this fourth is for us to rekindle a spirit of unity. Unity is not sameness, it is working together for a common good.  Unity is critical for forward movement in families and nations.  It is great to be a part of this melting pot of people.  Enjoy your celebration.
