Training for Disabled Vets

Brooke Transportation Training is the only school in the nation qualified under the "Chapter 31" program to train disabled veterans to become freight brokers. We work with you through your counselor to get you trained and equipped to be a freight broker or a freight broker agent.  In a month's time you can be trained and ready to start this exciting career.

A freight broker is an ideal job for a disabled vet.  A freight broker is skilled in matching freight loads with carriers to move those loads to the intended destination.  Since the job is done by phone and computer, a freight broker can easily make a great income from the comfort of their home.  Family members can help in the job.  In fact we often train a husband and wife at the same time so they both have the needed skills for success.

We would be honored to train you in one of our upcoming training courses.

Thank you to all our veterans.  Thank you for sacrificing your time and talents in service to our country.  Thank you for protecting the unique freedoms we have in the United States of America. Thank you to your families as well. They have made great sacrifices as well.

Any questions?  Give me a call.

Moving forward,

When the Going Gets Tough...

...the tough get going.  The "going" is a bit tough right now, but there are people who are succeeding despite the odds. Zig Ziglar said that in every recession there's always somebody in every business doing well.  What matters is your mindset.

Focus on your business not on the worries of the world.  In our training classes we meet tenacious individuals who know the best investments are investments in them selves.  If one source of income is lagging, come up with another source.  Here's a nice little story.

We use a small mail/copy place to help us with a lot of our transactions.  The owner is a tenacious man from India.  He works hard helping others with their administrative needs but decided he could take on more.  He could reinvest his profits into another money generator.   He brought his "can do" spirit  to our Freight Broker training class.

He spent 2 months training, acquiring equipment and licensing needed to be in freight brokerage. He now has 2 businesses.  He runs the freight brokerage from the back of his mail/copy center.  He says it is not a difficult business, you just have to learn it.  His attitude is amazing. He is not overwhelmed.  He took the time to be prepared.  He is the perfect person to be successful.

Krish Dhanam author of An American Dream from and Indian Heart encourages immigrants to focus on the opportunities for everyone in America.  He is now a riveting  speaker sought out by businesses across the country.  He came to this land with $7.00 in his pocket.  He found great success here.

Our founding fathers traveled oceans to get to America.  They came with a few belongings, some seeds in their pockets and a dream of a land ripe with potential.

What can you do today to stir up the spirit that fights for success in uncharted lands?

If you are ever going to invest in yourself, do it now, don't be scared.  You may have failure but press on.  Failures are just one step closer to success.

Give me a call.  I am always open to help others who need encouragement on their road to success.

Jeff Roach

Let's Shoot off Fireworks

I wish all of you a glorious celebration this weekend of the birth of our great nation.  There was a time when the United States was not a nation. Then it was an experiment to see if a democracy could succeed.  The experiment has been a success now for 100s of years.  Celebrate our independence, our wins and our losses.  Recognize that both our failures and our successes have built us up into the greatest nation on earth.  I am proud to be an American.  I pray we uphold the values our founding Fathers held as sacred. Thank those you know who have sacrificed to serve our country and keep us free.

From History.com:

Fourth of July—also known as Independence Day or July 4th—has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2nd, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 to the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with festivities ranging from fireworks, parades and concerts to more casual family gatherings and barbecues. The Fourth of July 2022 is on Monday, July 4, 2022.

Enjoy some time with friends and family celebrating the joys in your life and recognizing those who love you and serve our great nation.

God Bless America.

Summer Celebrations

Statue sculpted by Thomas Ball to commemorate the Emmancipation Proclamation

I hope you all had a Happy Father's Day yesterday.  I am proud to live in a country where freedom and family are a cause for celebration.  I am not a perfect father but God gave me 3 wonderful daughters, their husbands and 4 perfect granddaughters.  They are great gifts.

Yesterday was also Juneteenth, a celebration for when the enslaved people in Galveston, Texas found out they were free... more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.  News didn't spread as quickly then as it does now.  Union soldiers arrived in Galveston on June 19, 1865 declaring to all that slavery was abolished.  The former slaves immediately began to celebrate with prayer, feasting, song and dance.  It is the longest running African American holiday.   The day dedicated to celebrating that freedom spread through out the states.

Texas declared Juneteenth as a state holiday in 1980.  It  didn't become a federal holiday until 2021 in the United States.

Let's all celebrate family and freedom with jubilant prayer, dancing, feasting and singing.

Indeed is looking high and low for freight brokers.  I got an alert about  Dallas area Freight Broker jobs.  I scrolled through the pages of offerings.  Many said URGENT or multiple positions available and that was in the Dallas Fort Worth area only. The jobs are available across the country.  And many are work from home opportunities.

Fuel SurCharge Calculator

One of the most important things to do in the trucking business...well in any business, is to always be watching your cashflow.   If you figure out a more economical way, implement it and you will improve your bottom line, your profit margin...the amount of cash that ends up in your pocket.

OOIDA posted a great tool:  a fuel surcharge calculator.  I've copied the article for your use. https://www.ooida.com/trucking-tools/fuel-surcharge-calculator/

You make more money by either doing more work, or by figuring out how to lower your operating costs.

Hope this tool helps some out there.  Add comments on this blog as ways you have saved money in our industry.

Ultimate Sacrifice

Our hearts are heavy this Memorial Day for our fallen heroes.  And for recent senseless violence.  Throughout the history of the United States, men and women of valor have given their lives for their country, for our freedom and for the betterment of mankind everywhere.

Our military fight for peace, that is our goal... not for aggression.  I have met many heroes in our training program for Disabled Vets.  They tell me their stories.  They have faced great fears and continue to fight for the future with a stamina that those of us who have not served will never fully understand.

Greater love has no man that this, that he lay down his life for a friend.

As you enjoy a day with family, friends and some really good barbecue don't fail to remember those who have lost their lives in battle.  The National Memorial Day Concert is back after a 2 year pause. It will be played live on PBS, 8 pm on Sunday night.  Tune in and be inspired.

Pray for the families that push forward even with heavy losses on their hearts. Pray for the parents of the little ones in Uvalde, Texas.

Good Friday

Good morning to you on this Good Friday. We all need some good news in our world today.  There are too many things causing discord and disunity.  Today let us think about all that is good, all that brings us together.  We live in a world of different beliefs and I appreciate others right to decide what to believe. I believe in the God that sent His son as the savior of the world.

When I go hiking, the downhill is so easy.  It hardly takes any effort to go downward.  Likewise, it is easy to criticize, to grumble, finding fault everywhere.  Today, Good Friday we should purpose to do the most good, think the most good and find the good in every situation.  Today is called Good Friday because it is the day Christ did the most good.  He died to set men free, all men, good and bad.  A good person might die for another good person but who would die for the worst of sinners?  Jesus Christ did.

There is no greater love than when one lays down his life for a friend.  Jesus laid down his life for all of mankind on the "Good Friday" 2022 years ago.

No Convoy Needed

I spend a lot of my day interacting with carriers and shippers. I am often asked my thoughts on the "trucker's strike" that has made the news in Canada and iscoming to America.

Truckers organizing "The People's Convoy" are set to leave California and travel to Washington DC to protest "vaccine mandates" February 23. Yet according to Overdrive   "OSHA clarified vax mandates wouldn't apply to most truck drivers.    The ETS (emergency temporary standards) does not apply to individuals who work alone.  The labor secretary reinforced this in a statement to CNBC.

Truck drivers are usually in a cab by themselves when they are driving across country.

Most news sources claim the truckers are mad about vaccination mandates.

That is a small piece of what has gotten them stirred up. As reported in Landline media, Brian Brase, an organizer of the convoy, says it is not about vaccines at all but about "human and constitutional rights".

I've been in the transportation industry for over 3 decades.  I am a huge advocate for truckers.  They keep our economy going.  They have an important and very exhausting job.  Without those hardworking men and women America's economy would come to a screeching halt.

Profit margin for a trucker is only about 5%. As long as I've been talking with truck drivers they have been frustrated with the costs that limit their profit.  The drivers drive and maintain their truck.  They farm out everything else to brokers, factoring companies, etc.  Their frustrations are fueled by listening to other drivers and reading stuff on the internet.

As an advocate, I thrive on teaching these amazing people ways to help their bottom line.  So many truckers come through our school with a totally new outlook on their industry and better ways to run their business.  They think coming in that they understand the transportation industry but quickly learn it is a much bigger puzzle than what they've been putting together.

I invite all truck drivers to come through Brooke Transportation Training. They will learn how to find their own loads, how to streamline their operation and be inspired to greater heights.

Call me 214-206-1169 and I can tell your more.  No pressure, we will just talk through

your situation and I'll tell you my thoughts.  I always have a lot of thoughts.
