Happy New Year

As we welcome in another new year I like to take some time to reflect and plan.

Reflect on 2018.  Take your time.  Take a deep breath and browse through your 2018 calendar.  Remember the events, meetings and parties throughout the year. What was the best thing that you enjoyed?  Name some other things that were great, good and helpful.  What was the biggest challenge you endured?  I try to learn something from the ups and the downs in my day, my week, my month and my year. Opportunities to reflect are available every day.  Too often I rush into the "next" thing I want to do, next event to plan or next meeting to prepare without taking time to reflect on all that I learned from the recent past.  I have missed opportunities in my rush to the next thing.

Plan for 2019.  How can you take what you learned from 2018 and implement those lessons into your new year?  I am a life long learner so I am making a list of what I can learn this year so I can be the better for my family, better  in my career and better as a person.
I challenge you to learn something new today, this week, this month and this year.

You could totally change the trajectory of your life by learning a new thing.  As this year progresses I will tell you about some of the courses available through our online learning center.  My career and thus my premier course is freight broker training but because I know that is not for everyone I offer a variety of other online courses to help others find a better future.

Merry Christmas

A carpenter and his very pregnant wife had to travel across land on a donkey to be counted in the census.  They arrive only find that all the hotel rooms had already been taken.  The carpenter begged the inn keeper for any place to lay their head because his wife was so exhausted from the travel.  The innkeeper allows them to sleep in the stable where everyone parked their mode of transportation. 

A little baby was born to that carpenter and his wife that night.  They named him Jesus.  That was over 2000 years ago yet we still celebrate that birth in grand style today.  Christmas is a time to celebrate the miracle of birth, the value of family and the abundant blessings we enjoy in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

I am very thankful for my family, for my friends and for my business.  I have the greatest job, meeting people with unique stories, hopes and dreams.  I wish you the very merriest of celebrations during this special season.  Choose to bless others with kindness this season and every season.

Super Agent Brandi Patterson

Brooke Transportation Training Solutions is blessed with an amazing team of trainers. Brandi Patterson is one of those amazing instructors.  She is also an incredibly successful freight broker, having moved 6000 loads, 5 million dollars worth in 2017.

Yet when you talk with Brandi she will not boast of those things but most likely will tell you about her heart for ending the epidemic of teen suicide.  One of her proudest claims is being a champion in raising awareness of teen suicide through the charity, "Hanna 4 Hope".  She speaks at rallies and works tirelessly at fundraising for this cause.

"Hanna 4 Hope" hanna4hope.com is a non-profit foundation established to bring awareness to the problem of teen suicide.  Hanna Clark's parents started this foundation after the suicide of their precious, bubbly teen. They don't want any parent to have to live the nightmare they have endured.  Parents must talk with their children about suicide.  There may be warning signs or a child may hide what's going on inside.

Hot Time to be A Freight Broker

Americans are experiencing some of the best of times in our economic history.    When the economy is hopping freight brokers stay very busy helping to transport goods across the nation.  Now is a great time to train to be a freight broker or freight broker agent.

A freight broker negotiates between a manufacturer of goods and the shippers who transport those goods. A broker often specializes in a certain niche of the business.  For instance a broker may decide to transport vehicles.  As such they get to know all the shippers who have trucks capable of transporting whatever kind of vehicle that needs transporting.

A freight broker who likes food could choose to specialize in the niche of produce transportation.  That broker would need to find truckers who had are quick...produce has to get to market on a timely basis or it will no longer be marketable, except maybe as pig food.

There are an abundance of niche areas for a freight broker to choose.  A niche gives the broker a focused area to understand and grow.

Freight Broker Freedom

As we celebrate the birth of our nation, take time to reflect on all the freedoms you have because of the sacrifices of the generations before us.  We are a young nation compared to others yet we are blessed with a great economy, great friends, family and food.  It is easy to focus on what we want instead of what we already have.  An attitude of gratitude is contagious.  Be thankful and others around you will start to count their blessings as well.

One of the freedoms in our society is the freedom to be your own boss.  A freight broker is their own boss whether you work as an agent of another freight broker or you start your own brokerage. I have done both.  I have enjoyed incredible success and now I am privileged to teach others how to enjoy this fast paced, rewarding career.

There are processes I teach that help a new broker find success.  I can't guarantee success because success is dependent on the effort of the individual.  Like the fireworks pictured, we are all unique and the light we shine sparks in its own creative way.  Find your spark and work the process and you too can find success.
