He Came to Serve

Those in the Christian community have begun their "Holy Week".  (the remembrance of last week of Jesus life on earth)  The week started out amazing.  Palm Sunday.  As Jesus rode into town the crowds adored him, laid palm branches and their coats on the dirty pathway for him to ride through.  They yelled out praises to Him, honoring him as royalty.  He only lived a short 33 years on this earth yet we are still talking about him 2000 years later. He accomplished all he came to do in the time he had.  He didn't waste a minute.  We can learn a lot from his life, his legacy and his humble example.  He was all God and all man.  He can relate to our lives while he can see the future of all mankind.  

As this last week of Jesus life moved forward he spent time with his best buds, the 12 disciples.  He told them about what was to come but they didn't understand.  He had a passover meal with all 12 even the one that would betray him.  He washed their feet...a task usually performed by a lowly servant.  He was the son of God, God in the flesh yet he didn't use status to impress others.  

The night before he would be killed he took some of his disciples into the garden to pray.  He prayed so hard he sweated blood.  He asked that this cup be taken from him but if that was not God's plan he submitted to God's will.  The plan would give all men the pathway to a personal relationship with God.  In that garden, Jesus friends fell asleep.  Jesus woke them just as the guards came to take him away to be crucified.  

The day of crucifixion is now called Good Friday.  Why good?  It appeared the evil had triumphed.  But Jesus didn't stay dead. He conquered death for him and for all who believe.  That was good for us all.

Sunday when some ladies who loved Jesus came to the cave/grave they found it empty.  That was the first Easter.  

Easter is a celebration of the risen Savior, of new life and joy.

Good Friday

Good morning to you on this Good Friday. We all need some good news in our world today.  There are too many things causing discord and disunity.  Today let us think about all that is good, all that brings us together.  We live in a world of different beliefs and I appreciate others right to decide what to believe. I believe in the God that sent His son as the savior of the world.
 

When I go hiking, the downhill is so easy.  It hardly takes any effort to go downward.  Likewise, it is easy to criticize, to grumble, finding fault everywhere.  Today, Good Friday we should purpose to do the most good, think the most good and find the good in every situation.  Today is called Good Friday because it is the day Christ did the most good.  He died to set men free, all men, good and bad.  A good person might die for another good person but who would die for the worst of sinners?  Jesus Christ did.

 There is no greater love than when one lays down his life for a friend.  Jesus laid down his life for all of mankind on the "Good Friday" 2022 years ago.

Resurrection Day is Coming

This week Christians, all over the world, reflect on Jesus Christ of Nazareth’s last week on earth.  Thursday night was a remembrance of when Jesus and his disciples had their last supper together, the Passover meal.  They broke bread and drank wine.  Those two elements have since been a reminder of Christ’s body and blood sacrificed for all of mankind.   

 

Today is Good Friday, reflecting the day Christ was sacrificed on a cross for the forgiveness of sins to all who believe.   It was a rough, confusing day for those closest to Jesus.  It seemed to be a tragic day for them when they witnessed the death of  their friend Jesus, the man they put their hope in. Jesus had predicted and told them all that would happen, yet they didn’t understand.  It was unbelievable, but it happened.  Even Jesus didn’t want to die that way, but he chose to because He loved mankind.

 

But that is not the end of the story.

 

On Sunday morning when ladies came to the tomb to anoint Jesus body in the Jewish tradition, Jesus body was gone.  The only thing left in the tomb were the burial wrappings that had been on his body.   He had said he would rise from the dead and it appeared that he did.  It is quite a story.    Yet 2000+ years later millions have believed and lived their life trusting in Jesus and His love.

 

I don’t ever want to offend anyone that has a different belief, that is not my intention.  I enjoy listening to and respecting the beliefs of others.

 

Enjoy these days to celebrate time with family,  laugh as the little ones hunt for eggs and get extra rest.  Let’s seek peace for all of mankind.
