Training for Disabled Vets

Brooke Transportation Training is the only school in the nation qualified under the "Chapter 31" program to train disabled veterans to become freight brokers. We work with you through your counselor to get you trained and equipped to be a freight broker or a freight broker agent.  In a month's time you can be trained and ready to start this exciting career.

A freight broker is an ideal job for a disabled vet.  A freight broker is skilled in matching freight loads with carriers to move those loads to the intended destination.  Since the job is done by phone and computer, a freight broker can easily make a great income from the comfort of their home.  Family members can help in the job.  In fact we often train a husband and wife at the same time so they both have the needed skills for success.

We would be honored to train you in one of our upcoming training courses.

Thank you to all our veterans.  Thank you for sacrificing your time and talents in service to our country.  Thank you for protecting the unique freedoms we have in the United States of America. Thank you to your families as well. They have made great sacrifices as well.

Any questions?  Give me a call.

Good News--The Freight Market is about to Soar

Transportation Industry is Zooming Up
I sure enjoy reading some good news.  I like news that shows we are on the upswing...news that shows forward movement is on the horizon. I read this very encouraging article by Craig Fuller,  CEO and founder of Sonar, Freightwaves.com.  Thanks Craig.   Here is my recap of and a link to the article:

Freight Market forecasting is tricky, especially today, because of the unprecedented nature of COVID-19.  Craig Fuller points out in his article that electronic tenders are an excellent way to forecast the future of the freight industry.  A tender is an actual, real time request for a load.  The tender is sent from a shipper to a trucking company a few days before the needed pick up.  Thus the tender request is a leading indicator of the direction of the freight market.

In the article Craig has excellent graphs showing this indicator.

Many groceries, consumer goods and healthcare products have consistent freight demand.  Other items such as beverages and produce are more seasonal in nature.  The predictable freight is contracted freight. Contracted freight is largely handled by major carriers.  When this contract market bottoms out then the spot freight market heats up.

Craig writes:  "Over the next few weeks we can expect parts of the economy that impact freight demand will start to come back...spot rates will firm starting in May."

That is excellent news for freight brokers.  Some of the industries that will be slow to restart like travel, large outdoor events and restaurants do not effect the freight industry in a major way.

Stay the course if you are a freight broker or take our course if you'd like to learn a career where the sky is the limit.

2017 is Here

Happy New Year to You.  I haven't gotten used to writing 2017 yet.  It seems to take me longer each year to remember we are in a new year.  It takes me longer to remember a lot of things now a days actually.

But I do enjoy taking time to remember the blessings of the year.  2016 is in the books so now is a great time to reflect on the past and project for the future.

In 2016 we trained a lot of new freight brokers.  If you are one of those brokers let me know how the beginning of your new career in freight brokering is going.  I did some great fishing  in Mexico.  I spent great time with my family and friends.  I started wearing a fit bit to monitor my fitness activity...but I can't say I always get all my steps in.

So my goals for the New Year include training more freight brokers because we are going to need them according to projections I have read.  We are going to offer classes in Chicago February 13-17 and March 13 - 17.  If you are in the area or want to take a little trip Illinois, come join us.

How will you improve your life in 2017 while helping those around you?

A Truck Driver's Story

Recently Robert, a laid off truck driver, gave me a call. His wife had found my blog on an internet search as she was helping her man in his search for a new career.  She gave Robert the number. Robert called me to ask me a lot of questions about our freight brokers classes. We had a great talk.  Here is his story:

“I’ve been a truck driver for 19 years.  For the past 6 years I have been a contract driver for the post office driving a route between distribution centers in Virginia.  The post office stopped my route in March.  This is the first time in my life I have been laid off.  The first time I have applied for unemployment. I could get another truck driving job but I would most likely have had to move.  With my post office route my wife and I were able to move out to some acreage and buy some ponies.  As a freight broker I will be able to work out of my ranch, take care of my ponies and be with my family.

I found the freight broker online training course through my local community college’s partnership with the online education company that administers the course written by Brooke Training.  I researched it online.  It was perfect.  I could do all my work from home.  I have 6 months to complete the course but my plan is to finish in 2 months, get started and still have 4 months I can go back and review some of the things in the course.

And I won’t even have to pay for the course.  My unemployment contact gave me the information needed to apply for a Federal program in the WIA or Worker Investment Act.  I called my governor’s office to find out who heads up this program in Virginia.
I found I was eligible to apply for a grant, if approved I won’t have to pay anything back.

Ideally I want to be an independent freight broker but realistically I know I’ll need to start as an agent for an established freight broker.  They’ll help me with cash flow, legalities and other expenses.  It is a low cost business to start.

It is a little scary, but I’m looking forward to my new career“

Robert is taking advantage of a great opportunity.  It is an absolutely great time to become a freight broker.  Economic indicators show an upturn in the transportation industry.  Give me a call with any questions  214-206-1169.  Join us for an upcoming live class or like Robert learn online.

Be a Specialist

If you were diagnosed with a peculiar disease would you rather see a generalist or a specialist?

It seems most every industry need specialists because of the complexities of technology, the value of really understanding a specific area of business and the necessity of honing skills continually.  We have recently invested more in our Google advertising to let people know about our school.  I called the consultant I have been working with for years on my Internet set up needs to ask if he could help with our online advertising.  He said he’d recommend we call a google specialist.  He explained that although he’d read much about online advertising and understands how it works, he does not actually do online advertising for clients every day.  The Google specialists do.  They keep up with changes in the way Google ranks websites, understands how to get ads seen and producing as well as all the other nuances in that niche of the advertising world.   As the internet has grown so has the number of specialists in that arena.  There are specialists in search engine optimization, specific social media, online copywriting, e-commerce, webinars, website designers, and the list goes on and on.

Freight brokers can greatly benefit through specialization or finding their niche.  Specializing gives you a focus.  I have one freight broker school graduate who decided to focus on vehicle transportation.  She learned all she could about transporters.  She studied the automobile industry.  She learned about the lanes autos travel in the new car industry as well as the pre-owned segment of the market.  It took her awhile to learn what she needed.  Then she had to convince clients she knew how to transport their vehicles in time and on budget.  Once she got a client on board and had a little bit of a track record her freight broker business took off.  She is a shining example of the benefit of specialization.

You can watch her video on our website homepage.  transportationtraining.com.  “A Successful Freight Broker’s Story”.

If you are interested in learning to be a freight broker, well that is our specialization.  Our instructors have years in the business of freight brokering and in teaching.  We specialize in helping our graduates find a great career because the "sky is the limit with freight broker training".

Rookies and Pros

Both Rookies and pros get alot out of our training course.   Ricardo has been in the transportation industry for a decade and was pleasantly surprised by what he learned.

"I have been in the transportation industry for over 10 years and I have to say I am so glad I took this course.  Excellent support, ALL QUESTIONS ANSWERED.  A great experience.  You have to learn as much as you can about what you do and this definitely gave a great boost to my career. " Richardo T.

Vita is new to the industry and this is what she said;

"Not only did this class assure me that I made a good investment in my future, but was able to deliver the material in an easy to understand manner.  The course was not over paced and never made me feel I was wasting time with my questions.  I would recommend the class and to other people interest in this field.Vita P.

Freight brokering is a great career.  I have been in the industry for 3 decades now as a millionaire freight broker and as a trainer.  The job is fast paced and exciting.  The industry has changed but has always been a business that is in need.  No matter how the economy is going transportation of goods will never stop.

We see a lot of building going on in Texas.  Building needs material so a great niche of the trucking industry right now is building materials.

Come to one of our courses soon and learn that the sky is the limit with transportation training.

Success is Eminent

I thrive on hearing confident words from graduates of our training course.  My favorite phrase from this most recent group of graduates for our Dallas live class is “I am more than certain success is eminent.”  He learned not only the nuts and bolts of being freight broker but more importantly he gained the confidence needed to push forward.  As a freight broker you must make a lot of phone calls to establish a client base.  You just have to be able to understand that “no” is an encouraging word not a discouraging word.  When someone says “no” to your offer to help with their shipments that just means you are one step closer to a “yes”.   They aren’t saying they don’t think you are capable of the job; they just don’t need your help now.

Read through a couple of testimonies from our recent class.  Thanks Vinny for teaching with such excellence every month.  Thank you graduates for spending a week with us.  We wish you much prosperity in your new career.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the class.  Not only did it meet my every expectation, but exceeded my desires.  I wanted to learn the freight broker business, and I learned of my “life” business.  I am more than certain success is eminent and my business will thrive, as a result of all I have been through.  Vinny is the man!"--Sean Thomas

"Brooke Training class was very good for me.  It was very informative and interesting.  You learn about yourself, trucking industry, and most of all the broker business from start to finish.  I would definitely recommend to a friend." --Phadra Riser

"It was a very interesting class.  I learned a lot of things in a few days.  Instructor was very supportive and communicative.  I made a good decision to take this training class.  Thanks!" --Lorenc Aleksi
