Martin Luther King

Today we celebrate a great man who left us too soon.  It is Martin Luther King Day.  Take a minute to reflect on the man, his legacy and impact on people of all. Martin Luther King was a man who knew how to bring people together.  As a man of God, He understood how to have reconciliation without compromise of values.  We need that kind of wisdom in life, in politics and in our families.  The  Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. was a devout pastor, transformational civil rights leader, and courageous activist. Reverend King changed the course of history by envisioning and articulating a path toward a better future for all Americans.

He bravely fought for equality and freedom.

Reverend King was living with his family in Montgomery, Alabama when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man on December 5, 1955. As black leaders began mobilizing across the city, 26-year-old Martin Luther King Jr. was chosen to lead the first major nonviolent demonstration against segregation, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, as the spokesperson and president of the Montgomery Improvement Association.

That is how he started on his calling to recognize all men are created equal.  As you continue on your own journey recognize your own ability to honor and encourage others, seek peace, and reconciliation.

Moving forward,

Jeff Roach
