What to Expect with Advanced Freight Broker Training

Our Advanced Training Program is taught by expert consultants who are on the cutting edge in brokering. This training is designed to be up close and personal and catered to your individual needs. The information you learn in the Basic Course is put to work. During this program, you’ll work in a live brokerage to gain experience doing all the jobs necessary to operate a successful brokerage.

Today, I'd like to share with you some feedback we received from one of our recent students, Patrick Spaulding, who took our advanced course last week.  Here's what he shared:

A few comments from me in regards to the Advance Course:

1.  Intermodal Transportation - This area was taught by Tish and was exceptional overall.  She really broke it down very clearly on how this area of transportation works from the client to broker/agent, and then the carrier.  This was one area I really wanted to learn and I felt that I received the right guidance and direction.  Tish was very informative and professional throughout and knew her stuff well.  I was very impressed with her on her knowledge of this area.  Further, it was great to learn from someone who started from scratch as an agent, with no previous experience, and paved her way to success.  She is definitely an inspiration/success story that I would like to see my future agents strive to become.

2.  LTL Freight - This area was taught by Drake and was also exceptional.  Drake did an awesome job breaking how LTL freight is brokered from start to finish.  He laid out very clearly how the rates are determined and how to go about obtaining discounts from carriers, both dry and reefer.  This is an area I really needed to learn more about and simply did not have the knowledge.  Drake provided that and then some.  Drake is very experienced and has a ton of knowledge in all types of freight, and LTL was one of them.

3.  Fuel Surcharge - Another area taught by Drake.  Fuel Surcharge was another area I really wanted to hone down.  Drake provided great info on how Fuel Surcharges were broken down, specifically on how exactly to implement in long-term freight contracts.

4.  Prospecting - Both Drake and Tish went through their methods on how to search for freight, specifically in how to go about researching potential clients.  Both Drake and Tish did an excellent and thorough job instructing their prospecting methods.

5.  Locating Carriers and Negotiating Rates - Tish taught this area and did a great job instructing.  Tish did a wonderful job breaking down her methods on how to locate carriers and negotiate rates with through Internet Truckstop.  She clearly is a master at using Internet Truck Stop and was fantastic at instructing how to effectively use this tool.

Overall - The advance course was really great.  I came into it wanting to learn more a number of areas, specifically Intermodal, LTL, and Fuel Surcharge.  I received that and a lot more.  Attending the class was well worth it and I am glad I was able to get the opportunity.  The instructors are professional and care about their students.  Thank you for all your guidance and support!

Respectfully,
